TRENTON, N.J. – The Journal Register Co., which owns the Times of Pawtucket, The Call of Woonsocket, the Taunton Daily Gazette and The Herald News, in Fall River, among others, says its total ad revenues for the five weeks ending May 1 were $44.1 million, up 43.2 percent from the same period last year.
The figures include new acquisitions, such as 21st Century Newspapers. But several of the company’s longstanding properties also saw circulation increases, including 9.3 percent at the Taunton Daily Gazette and 4.2 percent at The Herald News.

The company did not provide detailed figures for all of its papers, but it did list all the ones whose circulation had risen. Neither the Times nor The Call were cited.
Overall, the company said, retail advertising was up 39.3 percent, classifieds were up 47.3 percent, and national advertising revenues were up 53.9 percent.
Online revenues were less than $1 million, but were still up 66.9 percent compared to the same period last year, the company said. Journal Register Web sites generated about 20.9 million page views in the last month, up 68.9 percent, the company said.
Journal Register owns 27 daily newspapers in seven geographic clusters, including Connecticut and central New England, as well as 338 non-daily publications and 195 Web sites. Its corporate Web site is www.journalregister.com.
