The house in Fall River,
Massachusetts where Lizzie Borden’s father and stepmother were
hacked to death with an ax in 1892 may soon host a Starbucks
coffee shop, The Boston Globe reported.
Donald Woods and Lee-Ann Wilber recently bought the home, a
bed and breakfast since 1996, where the real-life murder mystery
took place. Woods told the Globe he wants to tear down a 1940s
print shop next door, add some parking and trees and then
possibly open a Starbucks at the rear of the building to take
advantage of city plans for a new courthouse across the street.

Borden aficionados Faye Musselman and Stefani Koorey told
the newspaper they don’t like the idea of a Starbucks at the
site. Koorey added it might be a good idea if it keeps the house
open. Both have written about Borden, her trial for murder and
subsequent acquittal.
The Fall River Historical Commission would have to approve
tearing down the print shop, the Globe said. The coffee shop
wouldn’t require a zoning change. Woods says he has contacted
Starbucks and hasn’t heard back from the company.
