Maria E. Leonard has been appointed senior vice president/director of professional practices of internal audit at Citizens Financial Group Inc. She is responsible for developing audit division strategies, implementing employee development programs, developing operating and performance standards and budgeting and financial planning activities for the internal audit unit. Leonard previously worked as an auditor for Bank of America in Providence. She is a certified internal auditor by the Institute of Internal Auditors and is a certified information systems auditor by the Systems Audit and Control Association. She serves on the board of directors of the Greater Providence YWCA. Leonard received a bachelor’s degree from Bryant College. She lives in Lincoln.
