Mass. foreclosures continuing to rise, a new report says

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. – Massachusetts’ foreclosure filings are continuing to rise, according to a report released Monday.

Foreclosures were filed on 1,075 Bay State properties this January, while 776 were filed in January 2004 and 919 were filed in January 2005, according to a report by ForeclosuresMass, a provider of Massachusetts foreclosure data for the real estate industry.

In the report, a 12-month comparison of Feb. 1, 2004 to Jan. 31, 2005 and Feb. 1, 2005 to Jan. 31, 2006 shows:

— Foreclosures statewide increased from 8,832 to 11,649;
— The biggest change was in Suffolk County with 792 foreclosures to 1,211.
