PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — Raytheon Co. has been awarded $20.5 million by the U.S. Navy for the replacement of equipment. The equipment — obsolete military computers and associated software — will be replaced with modern commercial equipment to support submarine missions, the company said.
The order was made under the Advanced Technology Support Program II (ATSP2) contract to streamline the development of upgrades and architecture modifications to the Mark 2 Submarine Combat Control System (CCS MK2). Raytheon, the prime contractor for CCS MK2, partners with a “Team Submarine” coalition of the Navy’s Submarine Combat Systems Program Office (PMS-425), the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Newport, R.I., and several small business partners to meet the requirements of the program.

Raytheon’s Portsmouth-based Naval & Maritime Integrated Systems (N&MIS) business unit will lead Raytheon’s involvement with the order, with significant support from Reston, Va.-based Raytheon Technical Services, the company said.
