PROVIDENCE — Building products producer Nortek today reported second quarter earnings of $19.7 million, or $1.76 per diluted share, compared to earnings of $19.1 million, or $1.67 per diluted share, during the same period last year.
In a statement accompanying the results, Nortek said second quarter earnings per share were the highest of any quarter in the company’s history.

Nortek’s second quarter sales were $598.8 million, compared to $600.7 million a year ago.
In June, the company acquired the assets and business of Senior Air Systems, based in Stoke-on-Trent, England. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Nortek said it planned to fold the new acquisition into its United Kingdom-based operation, Eaton-Williams Group Limited. Eaton-Williams, which designs, manufactures, installs and services air conditioning and humidification equipment, was acquired by Nortek last July.
Nortek has about 12,000 employees worldwide, some 42 of whom work at its Providence offices.
