ON Semiconductor wins Intel award

ON Semiconductor Corp. received the Preferred Quality Supplier award from Intel Corp., the world’s largest chip maker, for outstanding performance in providing products and services deemed essential to Intel’s success.

ON Semiconductor Corp. and other winners were honored at a celebration in Burlingame, Calif., yesterday, the company reported in a statement. The Phoenix, Ariz.-based company, a global supplier of power and data management semiconductors and components, has a manufacturing facility in East Greenwich.

The award is part of Intel’s Suppliers Continuous Quality Improvement process, used to achieve suppliers’ support in meeting their quality improvement and cost reduction goals, ON said. Suppliers are evaluated on their ability to meet technology, quality, cost, delivery and responsiveness goals, and must also commit to, and deliver on, ambitious annual improvement plans and implement formal quality assessment.

Intel also recognized award winners with an advertisement in the U.S., European and Asian editions of The Wall Street Journal, ON said.
