BOSTON — Global technology company PerkinElmer, Inc. said it intends to acquire Baton Rouge, La.-based Analytical Automation Specialists, Inc. (AAS), a supplier of Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS). According to PerkinElmer, LIMS integrate information across nearly all brands of instrumentation under the brand name LABWORKS(TM).
The LABWORKS platform will help PerkinElmer to provide an integrated, comprehensive solution for the company’s Life Sciences and Analytical Instruments customers, said PerkinElmer chairman and CEO Gregory L. Summe. LABWORKS complements the company’s laboratory information management software capabilities, Summe said.
