Peter D. Herstein

Peter D. Herstein has been named director of undersea warfare for the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Newport. He is responsible for ensuring NUWC’s undersea warfare efforts are aligned to naval strategy. He has played major roles in developing surface ship and submarine sonar in his 32-year career with NUWC. Herstein serves as the Naval Sea Systems Command chief systems engineer for undersea warfare. He received a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University, in Ithaca, N.Y., and a master’s from the University of Rhode Island. He lives in Charlestown.
