Phoenix House raised $170,000 at its 2007 Public Service Award Luncheon to help fund the expansion of its services in New England, and honored recipient William F. Hatfield, Rhode Island market president of Bank of America. More than 425 guests attended.
The New England Public Service Award honors “exceptional men and women whose achievements and service to society inspire young people struggling to reclaim disordered lives,” according to a news release.

“I am honored to receive this award from Phoenix House on behalf of the 4,000 men and women who work for Bank of America in Rhode Island,” Hatfield said. “When Phoenix House honors me, they honor all of our associates, and I can’t think of a finer organization to be affiliated with.”
Phoenix House is the nation’s largest nonprofit provider of substance abuse treatment and prevention services. Phoenix Houses of New England operates 30 programs in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont.
