PROVIDENCE – For the next month, preservation groups in Rhode Island will be advocating for a Yes vote on Question 6 on the ballot for the March 2 special election.

The statewide election is being held for voters to consider seven bond issue requests.

Question 6 relates to $1 million in bonds for state preservation grant programs. The programs have been used in the past to help fund nonprofit museum improvements, cultural art centers and public historic sites.

Since it was last funded in 2014, the program has invested $10 million in 57 projects at Rhode Island properties, according to the R.I. Historical Preservation & Heritage Commission.
