Providence Yarn relocates

PAWTUCKET – Providence Yarn Co. will move its headquarters across town to 50 Division St. in November, the company on Conant Street announced last week.
The company said it recently purchased the 24,900-square-foot Division Street building known as the Toole Building. Providence Yarn plans to rechristen the building as the Charles Samdperil Building, in a nod to Charles Samdperil, the president the company from 1986 to 2005 and father of current president, Terry Schuster.
“This move will allow our company to expand both its retail knitting yarn store as well as its wholesale distribution and supply-chain partnership operations of industrial yarns, allowing us to better meet the needs of our customers” said Schuster.
Providence Yarn said the move would let it increase the types of industrial yarns and fibers it produces. Meanwhile, the retail store, the Yarn Outlet, will expand the number, styles, fibers and colors of knitting yarns it provides as well as a broader selection of patterns and books.
The company employs 10 people and plans to increase its workforce as its operations grow.
In a news release, Schuster thanked the city for its assistance in finding a space and said she was pleased to keep the company started by her grandfather in Pawtucket.
And Pawtucket Mayor James E. Doyle said the relocation should be beneficial to the local economy.
“The new location of Providence Yarn is exciting and should attract other businesses into Pawtucket,” he said.
