PROVIDENCE – Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Rhode Island increased by 314, with four new deaths, the R.I. Department of Health said Thursday.
Hospitalizations of COVID-19 patients in the state total 95, a decline from 103 one day prior. Of those hospitalized, 17 are in intensive care units and eight are on a ventilator.

The department said there have been 196.7 new cases per 100,000 residents in the previous seven days, which the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention define as “high transmission.”
Confirmed cases of the virus total 159,355 to date, a rise of 336 from figures reported Wednesday, accounting for the day-to-day increase as well as data revisions for previous days.
There have been 2,752 deaths due to the virus in Rhode Island.
A total of 673,305 individuals have been fully vaccinated in the state and 1.36 million COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered.
There were 9,133 tests processed Wednesday, with an overall positive rate of 3.4%. When excluding both repeat positive and repeat negative test results, the positive rate was 18.3%
There have been 4.75 million tests administered in the state to 1.01 million individuals.
