R.I. COVID-19 cases rise by 360, with 6 more deaths

PROVIDENCE – Cases of COVID-19 in Rhode Island increased by 360 on Wednesday, with six more deaths, the R.I. Department of Health said Thursday.

Hospitalizations of COVID-19 patients in the state totaled 125, a decline of five day to day. Of those hospitalized, 17 were in an intensive care unit, level with one day prior, and 13 were on a ventilator, a decline of one day to day.

There have been 411,490 doses of COVID-19 vaccines administered in the state to date, a rise of 13,133 day to day. Of those, 282,304 have been first doses, a rise of 3,438 from the day prior. There have been 136,515 individuals fully vaccinated in Rhode Island to date, a rise of 10,157 day to day.

Cases in the state have totaled 132,616 to date, a rise of 432 from figures reported Wednesday, accounting for both the day-to-day increase, as well as data revisions for previous days.

Deaths due to the virus have totaled 2,594 in the state to date.

There were 20,627 tests processed Tuesday, with an overall positive rate of 1.7%. When excluding both repeat positive and repeat negative test results, the positive rate was 20.7%.

There have been 3.3 million tests administered in Rhode Island to date to 824,792 individuals.
