Report: Ring maker leaving Attleboro

ATTLEBORO – A Massachusetts-based championship ring maker will move to Providence, likely shedding 50 jobs in the process, The Sun Chronicle reported last week.
Attleboro-based Masters of Design, a 39-year-old ring maker which has made championship rings for teams including the Philadelphia Phillies and Los Angeles Lakers, will move its operations to Providence at the end of this month, according to company sources interviewed by the newspaper. Masters of Design officials did not immediately return phone calls this week.
Formerly owned by London-based Cookson Group, the company was sold to Herff Jones in 2009. Based in Indianapolis, Herff Jones has facilities in Providence and Warwick. Manufacturing Jewelers and Suppliers of America President and CEO David Cochrane told the Sun Chronicle that it was his understanding that the Attleboro operations will be “integrated” into Herff Jones’ Providence location.
