Rex D. Stone has been named assistant director of operations engineering at The Providence Journal Co. He joined the Journal in 1993 as operations engineering manager. Prior to that, he was a senior engineer at KBA-Motter in York, Pa. In his new role, Stone supervises the electrical, HVAC, production maintenance, building services, pressroom and packaging maintenance departments of the paper.
