R.I. gas prices drop by 2 cents, AAA survey finds

Gasoline prices in Rhode Island continue their up and down ways, falling this week an average of 2 cents per gallon, according to AAA Southern New England.

AAA’s June 19 survey of prices in Rhode Island found self-serve unleaded regular averaging $2.97 per gallon, 2 cents less than last week. Over the last four weeks, prices in AAA’s weekly survey have risen twice and fallen twice. A year ago at this time the average price was $2.17.

The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for regular unleaded is 20 cents, from a low of $2.89 to a high of $3.09. Motorists should continue to shop around for the best prices in their area, AAA said.
