RI Hospital creates additional parking

Last week, Rhode Island Hospital in Providence announced the opening of a new 460-space parking deck of patients and their families. The hospital has created an additional 500 parking spaces since April.

The new parking deck was built over a portion of an existing lot, Lot C-1 located between Willard Avenue and Blackstone Street. In April, the hospital opened a new 254-space parking garage located beneath the Emergency Department Bridge Building.

“At Rhode Island Hospital, we are focused on making the patient experience as good as it can be and we know that creating additional, convenient parking will help with our efforts,” said Fred Macri, executive vice president of Rhode Island Hospital.

The next phase of improvements includes the opening of the state’s only pediatric imaging center, which will occupy the old emergency department and is scheduled to open next summer. A new pathology lab will open in the Bridge Building to support the new operating rooms.
