The Old Danielson Bridge Pike (#96) over the Ponagansett River in Foster will be closed until further notice. The Rhode Island Department of Transportation has taken this action due to the safety condition of this nearly 90-year-old span.
Built in 1912, the bridge was last inspected on Oct. 1, 2001. As a result of this inspection the bridge’s deficiencies were discovered and have led to its closure.
