Three of the four leading cast
members of the hit U.S. television comedy “Seinfeld” won’t
participate in the making of a DVD series of the program, the New
York Times reported, citing unidentified people close to the
actors and the show.
Jason Alexander, who played George, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who
played Elaine, and Michael Richards, who played Kramer, are
balking at the project because of dissatisfaction with current
and past financial terms regarding the show, the people said.

Time Warner Inc.’s Castle Rock Television, producer of the
show for General Electric Co.’s NBC TV network, and Sony Corp.’s
Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment, which will distribute the
DVD, offered only a “small” fee to the three actors, the paper
said, citing an unidentified representative for one of the
actors.
“Seinfeld,” which aired from 1990 to 1998, is one of the
most lucrative shows in TV history and still plays in reruns
across much of the U.S. The DVDs, slated for release in December
2004, likely would sell millions of copies, the Times said.
Jerry Seinfeld, a co-creator and part owner of the program,
is disappointed that his three former co-stars won’t participate,
a Seinfeld spokeswoman said, the paper reported.
