Sen. Celona wants to investigate gasoline prices

Rhode Island Senator John A. Celona (D-district 7) is calling on the U.S. Congress to “investigate the excessive prices at the pump.”

In letters to the state Congressional delegation, Celona, who represents North Providence and Lincoln, urged the delegation to investigate the validity of rate increases for gasoline.

“With people struggling to make ends meet in a down economy and now with record high gasoline prices, something must be done to curb this attack on the people’s pocketbooks.”

Celona announced that he will conduct hearings of his own, as chairman of the state Senate Committee on Commerce, Housing and Municipal Government.
