PROVIDENCE – Technology staffing provider Software Quality Associates’ (SQA) has announced that revenues for the quarters ended Dec. 31, 2001 and Dec. 31, 2000 were $1,476,900 and $3,279,900 respectively. Gross profits for the quarters ended Dec. 31, 2001 and Dec. 31, 2000 were $432,700 and $961,500 respectively. SQA’s revenues for fiscal years ended Dec. 31, 2001 and Dec. 31, 2000 were $9,650,700 and $10,092,600 respectively. Gross profits for fiscal years ended Dec. 31, 2001 and Dec. 31, 2000 were $2,820,300 and $2,849,100 respectively.
SQA’s sales results in 2001 were primarily attributable to the economic slowdown in the New England region. Companies deciding to put off technology investments until 2002 directly impacted SQA.

PROVIDENCE – Nestor, Inc. has announced the appointment of Dr. Douglas L. Reilly to chief operating officer. Reilly will lead the engineering, operations and sales divisions in ongoing product development, installation, and promotion of the company’s suite of intelligent, video-based automated red light enforcement and grade crossing monitoring systems.
Employed at Nestor since its inception in 1984, Reilly has played a significant role in the development of many of the company’s products, from the initial tools for character recognition, the Ni1000 neural network chip and PRISM fraud detection systems to TrafficVision for highway monitoring and CrossingGuard, Nestor’s video-based automated red light enforcement and intersection safety system.

WAKEFIELD – Boothroyd Dewhurst, Inc., has announced that agricultural equipment manufacturer Deere & Company (Moline, Ill.) has purchased a corporate license for Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) software. Boothroyd Dewhurst said its software could enable Deere to reduce the cost of purchased parts in the company’s major equipment divisions. After an 18-month pilot program proved successful, Deere’s cost management group purchased the software as part of the group’s continuous efforts in strategic sourcing.
