Staff shifts at Citizens

Besides increasing Mark J. Formica’s responsibilities to include the chairmanship of Citizens banks of Rhode Island and Connecticut, and the appointment of Robert T. Gormley as chairman, president and CEO of the banks in both states, Citizens announced a number of other top management changes. Here are the management shifts:

Formica, 51, who was chairman, president and CEO of Citizens Bank of Rhode Island and vice chairman of Citizens Financial Group becomes chairman of Citizens Banks of Rhode Island and Connecticut and remains vice chairman of Citizens Financial.

Robert T. Gormley, who had been chairman, president and CEO of Citizens Bank of New Hampshire, becomes president, CEO of Citizens Banks of Rhode Island and Connecticut. Formica gives up the title of president and CEO of Citizens Bank of Rhode Island. Gormley reports to Formica.

Senior Vice President Kim Meader, who previously headed Citizens’ northern Massachusetts Commercial Lending Team succeeds Gormley as chairman, president and CEO of Citizens Bank New Hampshire.

Executive Vice President Joseph J. MarcQurele, who heads Citizens’ Commercial Banking division in Rhode Island, adds the Connecting division.

Senior Vice President Edward O. Handy, III, who heads Citizens’ Commercial Loan Syndication Group, has been named regional president in charge of Citizens Bank of Connecticut’s Commercial and Commercial Real Estate Lending.

Executive vice president Jane Wolchonok, who heads Retail Banking in Rhode Island, will also oversee retail banking in Connecticut.
