PROVIDENCE — Gov. Lincoln Almond has announced an important step toward providing
Rhode Islanders with access to an array of state services online. The state has
contracted with New England Interactive, a subsidiary of the National Information
Consortium (NIC), to design and implement a self-supporting World Wide Web portal
for Rhode Island government. This portal will serve as a single point of access
to a collection of online government services and is expected to be online by
early fall this year.
