Summit Bancorp terminates common stock repurchase programs

PRINCETON, N.J. — In connection with its FleetBoston Financial Corporation, Summit Bancorp said today that its board of directors has terminated all of its common stock repurchase progams.

The merger of the two companies has been approved by the Federal Reserve Board and is now subject to the approval of shareholders. According to reports, the merger would be completed by the end of March.
