Susan H. Areson has been named metro managing editor at The Providence Journal Company in Providence. She joined the company in 1986 and has served as city editor, deputy managing editor, West Bay regional editor, Sunday Journal editor and section editor. In her new role, Areson oversees the reporting, editing and editorial support staff for the news, business and sports departments.
