BOSTON – The U.S. Labor Department’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration
has cited three contractors for allegedly violating the OSHA Act at a Franklin
construction site at which a construction worker died of injuries suffered when
a backhoe rolled into an excavation. The contractors, Lower County Developers
Corporation of Plymouth; WJN Construction of East Bridgewater; and Essex Builders
Corp. of Norwood. Faces fines of $59,500. After an inspection, OSHA said it
identified half a dozen serious safety violations. Each company has 15 days
from notification of the alleged violations to either comply with the recommendation
for penalties or to contest them before the independent Occupational Safety
and Health Review Commission.
