Tri-town development plan dropped

WAREHAM – A.D. Makepeace Co., a cranberry grower based here, announced that it was dropping a proposal to develop 6,000 acres it owns in Carver, Plymouth and Wareham for a residential, retail and commercial site. The proposed development drew opposition from a specially created task force as well as environmental groups, the Boston Globe reported. Makepeace said it would withdraw its request for a three-town zoning ruling and deal with each town separately.
