Governor Don Carcieri and other member of the Rhode Island community will gather on Jan. 26 at the State House to host “Rhode Island responds: A reception in support of the tsunami victims and their families.”
Tickets for the even are $100 or $250 per person, and corporate sponsorships are available. Nearly 20 companies have already contributed funds. An anonymous donor will match all donations up to $250,000. All proceeds will go to Catholic Relief Services, which will distribute the funds. More than 150,000 people died in the tragedy and millions more are homeless.
