Verizon quarterly dividend up 5.2%

NEW YORK – The board of directors of Verizon Communications Inc. has declared a quarterly dividend of 40.5 cents per outstanding share, an increase of 2 cents, or 5.2 percent, from the previous quarter. The dividend is payable on May 2, 2005, to Verizon shareowners of record at the close of business April 8.

Verizon has approximately 2.7 million shareowners and approximately 2.8 billion shares of common stock outstanding. In 2004, the company made $4.3 billion in dividend payments.
