NEW YORK – Rhode Island’s largest telephone service provider, Verizon Communications Inc., has reported adjusted third-quarter net income of $2.04 billion, or adjusted diluted earnings per share (EPS) of 75 cents, which includes a 3-cent-per-share impact related to the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks in New York City and at the Pentagon.
This represents a 2.8 percent increase from $1.98 billion, or 73 cents per share, in the third quarter 2000. Adjusted net income for the first nine months of 2001 was $6.1 billion, or $2.23 per share, compared to nine-month 2000 adjusted net income of $5.9 billion, or $2.13 per share.
