Local National Public Radio affiliate WRNI 1290AM has
received a second place honor from the 2002 National Headliner Awards
program for the station’s series “Insuring Our Health.”
Awards were handed out Saturday, May 4 by the Press Club of Atlantic City at their annual
ceremony. The National Headliner Awards program is one of the oldest journalistic merit contests in the nation.
The WRNI series, “Insuring Our Health,” consisted of five segments
broadcast during Feb. 2001. The series explored the health care field
and the complicated public policy debate surrounding it. The series finale was
a live two-hour town meeting, aired on WRNI, examining the direction of
health care policy in Rhode Island.
