Amica continues marathon support

NEWPORT – Amica Insurance has signed on again as the sponsor of the Amica Marathon in Newport for the next five years.
The Lincoln-based insurer has sponsored the race since 2009.
The event, formerly known as the Breakers Marathon, attracted nearly 5,000 participants in 2010, and organizers say more are expected this year. Amica said the event was named one of the top four marathons in the nation in the January 2010 edition of Runner’s World magazine.
The 2011 Amica Marathon is a weekend-long event that will be held Oct. 15 and 16. It will feature the Amica Marathon, a half-marathon and a 5K race.
The marathon, which serves as a qualifier for the Boston Marathon, follows a course along the scenic streets of Newport, while offering runners views of the Atlantic Ocean.
