West Kingston-based American Power Conversion
Corp., a maker of power-supply products, has reported its quarterly profit
climbed 33 percent and sales rose 11 percent.
Net income rose to $55.8 million, or 28 cents a share, from
$42 million, or 21 cents, a year earlier, at the company. Revenue climbed to $393.7 million,
from $337.1 million, said company spokeswoman Deborah Hancock.

Interest in American Power’s systems, which provide power
protection for personal computers, servers and network data
centers, has grown as more companies seek to protect their
equipment.
Demand has been driven in part because of “a heightened
awareness about power outages in the past few months,” Hancock
said. “We have a mix of products that range for use in the home
to a large facility. That’s helped good growth across the
globe.”
