FALL RIVER – Avtek Inc., an electrical components manufacturer, plans to build a new manufacturing plant in the Fall River Commerce Park, the Fall River Office of Economic Development announced.
The company has purchased a 6.5-acre parcel from the Fall River Redevelopment Authority and plans to break ground immediately to build a 22,400-square-foot production facility, the office said. Avtek officials said the company will initially employ 25 people at the new location, and will grow the work force to about 75 people in two years.
Fall River Mayor Edward Lambert Jr., chairman of the office, said the company’s expansion in Fall River is a testament to the office park’s transformation from an old airport to an economic engine. Last month, five businesses announced they were expanding in the neighboring Industrial Park – American Dryer Corp., Arctic Cold Storage Inc., Blount Seafood Corp., Silver Line Building Products Corp. and WRH Industries Ltd.

Rockland Trust opens North Attleboro branch
NORTH ATTLEBORO – In response to the success of an Attleboro branch, Rockland Trust recently opened a new branch in North Attleboro, the bank said. The bank now has two branches in Bristol County, with a third set to open in Raynham in September.
The branches are located on Route 1 at 16 East Washington St., North Attleboro and at 21 North Main St. in Attleboro. Rockland Trust hosted an open house and ribbon-cutting on Aug. 10 to celebrate the new location.
Rockland Trust Company, sole bank subsidiary of Independent Bank Corp., currently has $2.8 billion in assets, according to the bank. Rockland provides consumer, small-business and commercial banking and investment management services throughout southeastern Massachusetts and Cape Cod.
