BJ’s reports increase in April sales

Natick-based BJ’s Wholesale Club Inc. reported sales for April 2004 increased by 10.8 percent to $505.3 million from $456.3 million in April 2003.

Comparable club sales increased by 5.4 percent for the month of April, BJ’s said, including a contribution from sales of gasoline of approximately 0.8 percent. For the first quarter of 2004, total sales increased by 12.1 percent and comparable club sales increased by 6.6 percent, including a gasoline sales contribution of about 0.4 percent.
