EAST PROVIDENCE – Bradley Hospital has been awarded $350,000 in federal funds to administer a school-based mental health program for secondary students in Pawtucket and Providence.
The appropriation will enable Bradley Hospital to launch its School-Based Adolescent Mental Health Project, which will provide a wide range of outpatient services to students in Pawtucket. A portion of the funds will also be used to bolster the Health and Education Leadership for Providence’s (HELP) Mental Health and Wellness Initiative at Hope High School in Providence.
Congressman Patrick J. Kennedy (D-RI) helped secure the funds as a member of the House Appropriations Committee’s Labor-Health and Human Services and Education Subcommittee. The Bradley Hospital earmark, included in the Fiscal Year 2002 budget within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, was recently approved by Congress and has been signed into law by President Bush.
