PROVIDENCE – Chevron Energy Solutions, a unit of Chevron Corp., has updated the heating and hot water systems of Chariho and East Providence Vocational Technical Schools.
The projects, valued at more than $2.6 million, will lower the schools’ energy costs by more than $139,000 a year and ensure a comfortable learning environment, the company said.

The upgrades included a complete conversion from electric heat to natural gas and installation of new heating, cooling and domestic hot water systems for both schools, as well as new energy-management systems. At Chariho, an asbestos-covered hot water tank also had to be replaced, adding to the complexity of the project.
