Dell Computer Corp. will resell EMC Corp.’s computer data-storage systems, in a five-year agreement intended to reduce costs and boost sales for both companies.
Under a five-year agreement, Dell will become the top reseller of EMC’s Clariion line, which is sold to midsized companies, EMC and Dell said. For larger companies that need more- expensive systems, Dell and EMC will offer EMC’s Symmetrix systems, which can cost several millions of dollars.

Dell has made storage devices under an agreement with Data General Corp., which EMC acquired in 1999, said Dell spokesman Bruce Anderson. Dell had announced plans to invest in developing its own data-storage systems and acquired storage-technology company ConvergeNet Technologies in 1999 for about $340 million.
