PROVIDENCE – Instead of throwing an extravagant party, Hinckley, Allen & Snyder chose to mark its 100th anniversary by awarding $100,000 in Centennial Grants to community-based nonprofit organizations that focus on critical issues related to children.
“For 100 years, we’ve had the privilege of serving clients throughout New England, and we felt that donating to charity was the most appropriate way to celebrate,” said Michael P. DeFanti, managing partner of Hinckley, Allen & Snyder.

The grant recipients – chosen from a pool of candidates suggested by the law firm’s partners and employees – also received recognition for their hard work, at a special reception. Among the programs the firm chose to support was the Rhode Island Food Bank’s Kids Café, which it awarded a grant of $10,0000.
“We are extremely grateful for the support of Hinckley, Allen & Snyder,” said Rosie Connors, the Food Bank’s interim executive director. “This generous grant will allow us to continue to provide nutritious evening meals to children in three high-need communities.”
The Kids Café program last year served more than 2,300 meals per week to needy children in Providence, Pawtucket and Newport.
The Rhode Island Community Food Bank is a nonprofit organization that serves about 50,000 Rhode Islanders, about a third of whom are children, through its network of nearly 400 member agencies.
