TAUNTON, MASS. — General Dynamics Communications Systems, a business unit of General Dynamics, has been awarded a $32 million U.S. Army contract.
Under the contract, authorized by the Army’s Communications Electronics Command, General Dynamics Communications Systems will deliver a compact, lightweight mobile telephone switching system for the Army’s tactical commanders. The $32 million is for an initial order of 27 systems, with options of up to 58 more systems, General Dynamics said. If all options are exercised, the contract’s value will be $106 million, the company said.

General Dynamics will work with Mesita, New Mexico-based Laguna Industries Inc. on the project. The companies previously collaborated on a similar project for the Army.
