Hasbro Inc.,
the maker of Monopoly board games and Play-Doh, said its second-
quarter loss widened to $25.9 million because the company wrote
down the value of an investment in a computer-game maker.
The loss, of 15 cents on a per-share basis, increased from
$18.3 million, or 11 cents, in the year-earlier period, the
company said in a statement distributed by Business Wire. Sales
rose 6.9 percent to $546 million.

The company wrote down an investment in Infogrames
Entertainment SA by $28.6 million, or 17 cents a share, it said.
The Pawtucket, Rhode Island-based company received the stake for
selling its Hasbro Interactive and Games.com businesses to
Infogrames.
