DANVERS, Mass. — Ibis Technology Corp. announced that it was cutting its work force
by 14 percent in an effort to cut costs. A parts manufacturer for the technology
industry, Ibis attributed the layoffs to the continuing decline in the semiconductor
and telecommunications industries. After the layoffs, the company said it would
retain about 100 full-time employees.
