MIDDLETOWN, R.I.– Navigation system maker KVH Industries said it has been awarded a $1.5 million contract by General Motors for work on the New Zealand Army’s new fleet of light armored vehicles.
Under the contract, KVH will install its TACNAV tactical navigation system on the fleet, made by General Motors Defense. The company has equipped General Motors’ armored vehicles used by the U.S. Marine Corps, Canada, Saudi Arabia and Australia. TACNAV products have also been installed in vehicles used by the military forces of Canada, Sweden, Great Britain, Spain and Italy, KVH said.br>

According to KVH spokesman Chris Watson, work on the New Zealand project is expected to be completed by 2003.
