Paula Shannon has been appointed acting chief academic officer for the Providence Public Schools District. Shannon currently serves as executive director of curriculum development and implementation for the district, having previously held positions as a teacher, literacy coach and administrator. She holds a B.S. from the University Notre Dame, an M.A. from the University of Rhode Island and an M.Ed. from Lesley University. •
