Candidates must live or work in Rhode Island, must show prior commitment to public service and public intellectual life and must be willing to make RICH a priority.
Each council member must serve on at least one subcommittee and attend its monthly meetings, must attend four full board meetings and one overnight retreat each year, and must be willing to take part in fundraising and promotion, among other duties.
People nominated by Dec. 22 will be considered for election for a three-year term that will begin in March. Up to four members may be elected; the council said it strives “to find balance in our membership in gender, age, faith and ethnicity, as well as regional and institutional affiliation.”
Nominations should include a letter from the nominating party describing the nominee’s potential contributions and willingness to serve, a copy of the nominee’s resume and other supporting documentation.
They may be directed to Sara Archambault, executive director, 385 Westminster St., Suite 2, Providence, RI 02903, or to sara@rihumanities.org, and are due at RICH by Dec. 22.
