The BIC is designed to be a central location where current or prospective women small business owners can use publications and software to develop business plans for expanding, growing or financing their business. In addition to the computer technology and library, counselors from the Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE) and consultant services provided by the Rhode Island Small Business Development Center will be available to assist entrepreneurs at the new BIC.

According to Mark Hayward, director of the SBA, Rhode Island District Office, the center will provide women entrepreneurs with the assistance they need to successfully start and expand their businesses. The centers will provide one-on-one interaction for developing a business plan and other requirements of starting or expanding a business.
