Sovereign opens Providence office

Sovereign Bank held a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony Monday for its newest banking office in Providence. The office, located at 212 Thayer St. on Providence’s East Side, is staffed by seven Sovereign team members including Manager Don Heinold who has 30 years’ experience in banking and has spent the last five years with Sovereign.

Providence Mayor David N. Cicilline joined Sovereign employees, community leaders and customers to help celebrate the opening of the branch. Sovereign has featured daily festivities this week for the grand opening.

In addition, Sovereign presented a $5,000 grant from the Sovereign Bank Foundation to the Groden Center of Providence. The Groden Center, founded in 1976, is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for individuals with autism and other emotional and behavioral disabilities.

The Thayer Street office has expanded hours to provide banking from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays. The bank is also open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Friday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. There are also two full-service ATMs at the branch.
