Thundermist Health Care has received a $564,286 grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that will help the nonprofit group expand services to the uninsured.
He funding will be used to establish a community health center satellite in West Warwick, creating a new access point for people in need of health services. Thundermist anticipates serving approximately 5,000 patients a year in West Warwick.

The satellite will be tied to the larger organizational operation, which serves 20,000 patients in northern and southern Rhode Island.
Thundermist was among 31 recipients from across the nation to receive funding under a five-year, federal Health Centers Initiative. A total of $16 million was granted to the programs nationally.
