URI honors four ‘distinguished achievers’

The recipients of the University of Rhode Island’s inaugural Distinguished Achievement Awards were honored Saturday at the R.I. Convention Center in Providence.

* Bernie Beaudreau, Class of ’77, the longtime executive director of the Rhode Island Community Food Bank, who will be leaving at the end of the month to join a new Chicago-based group, the Global FoodBanking Network.
* Barbara Cardillo, Class of ’72, a Silicon Valley marketing executive and author, who has co-founded three successful high-tech companies in the past 10 years.
* Tom Ryan, Class of ’75, chairman, president and chief executive officer of CVS/pharmacy.
* Cynthia Sculco, Class of ’65, a retired nursing professor and philanthropist.
